New Method to Regrow Breasts After Surgery

Women who have undergone a mastectomy may be able to regrow their breasts in the future with a new stem-cell approach, the Guardian reported today.

The method would involve biodegradable scaffolding contoured to match a woman’s natural breast shape and filled with stem cells from her own fat tissue. The hope is for such stem cells to divide and grow, recreating the permanent fat found in breasts.

The scientists have tested a procedure in preclinical trials in animals. They plan to begin human trials with a non-biodegradable prototype in the next three to six months, according to the Guardian.

The procedure could replace reconstruction surgery or breast implants for woman who have had mastectomies. >>♥READ MORE♥<<
